Non-Credit Courses

  • History It is believed that the Sustainable Farming Program at Central Carolina Community College was born out of a need to address the issues of the farming community within Chatham County and the surrounding Piedmont region of NC. The program was initiated by local growers at the time of 1996, this program swiftly developed into a unique partnership of community members, farmers, Central Carolina Community College, NC Cooperative Extension Service, Carolina Farm Stewardship Association, American Livestock Breeds Conservancy, R.E.A.L. Enterprises NC A&T University and NC State University.
  • The Program: This program employs a an innovative approach to teaching through together highly successful agriculturalists as the primary instructors. The classes are interactive with excursions to local farms and associated companies and are planned to accommodate students who are working. Land Lab Land Lab has been developed to serve as a demonstration and research facility to demonstrate sustainable agricultural practices. It also serves as an outdoor classroom to provide practical instruction in horticulture as well as other disciplines of agriculture.

  • Write and present a marketing strategy that is appropriate for organic and sustainable farming within the Southeast.
