Timothy Jacob Jensen is the brightest in the design world. His career is filled with innovation and talent nurturing. The work that earned him the 2018 IF Gold Award for modular power cable system, vision, from his collaboration with Shanutec Xpower, reflects his collaborative ingenuity as well as making him a trendsetter in the design industry. During his two-decade career, Jensen has been very creative and innovative, as exemplified by his work during his tenure as the CEO and chief designer of Jacob Jensen Design.
He brought international repute to the studio through designing expansion into Shanghai and Bangkok design hubs. He is, therefore, committed to a global dialogue in design, which would ensure cultural and creative exchange for the enrichment of the industry. Jensen was nominated to sit on the juror list of IF Design Awards, Denmark in 2019. In this competition, he evaluated entries that belonged to the ‘Discipline Product’ category. In these, he reflected deep into the design landscape while he was able to establish and recognize expertise without a rival at identifying innovative ideas.
The man of Danish origin has been so long honored for his pioneer work. Outside of his corporate life, he is an accomplished academic, serving as a professor at Fudan University in Shanghai. Here, he imparts his vast knowledge to the next generation of designers and brings the gap between theory and practice to the forefront. With respect to personal roots, his relationship is not only with IF but with the IF Design Awards deeply – his father, Jacob Jensen received the studio’s very first IF Design Award for that highly symbolic icon called Beomaster 5000 in 1967. It has indeed attached a family tradition value which makes him uphold excellencies.
