Good IIT JEE preparation mostly needs two parts, one part is taught through coaching classes and group study and the rest, which is a major part, is self-study. The best way to succeed in IIT JEE is to gain more and more knowledge about the subject you want to study especially during your schooling stage. Here are some ways to keep self-study tips which had proved to be effective for IIT JEE aspirants:

1. Understand the Exam Pattern and Syllabus

a) Know The Exam Pattern:

JEE Main has two papers –

Paper 1 (with Physics and Chemistry questions, for B.E/B.Tech programmes) Paper 2 (with Mathematics questions, for B.Arch/B.Plan programmes).

Apart from that, you have to appear for an online drawing test of 30 marks, also to be taken on the same day as JEE Main Paper 2. If you qualify for JEE Main Paper 1, based on your performance, you get a chance to appear in JEE Advance with five times your attempted marks.

Similarly, scoring good marks in JEE Main Paper 2 will qualify you for JEE Advance. In the 1.5-hour, online JEE Advance exam, you will have to answer 24 questions from Mathematics, 24 from Physics and 24 questions from Chemistry. The subject-wise distribution is important to know before attacking the papers. The percentage of students achieving the cut-off scores is significantly higher than the probable number of university seats available.

b) Read the syllabus carefully: Ensure that you get a detailed syllabus for each exam, break it down into manageable pieces, and generate a table of contents covering each topic thoroughly.
